Learning Objectives
- Design an AI product that addresses a real community problem.
- Evaluate risks across fairness, accountability, transparency, and safety (FATS).
- Defend design decisions before an ethics review board.
- Draft a regulatory policy for a real‑world AI system.

Lesson Structure
- Hook (10 min) – Present three AI systems (predictive policing, hiring tool, content recommender). Discuss: "Who benefits? Who is at risk?"
- Digital play – Venture Pitch (30 min) – Students design an AI product and complete the Risk Matrix. They then face the Ethics Review Board.
- Board debrief (15 min) – Discuss the board's feedback. What surprised students? What would they change?
- Digital play – Policy Lab (25 min) – Students regulate an AI system, choosing policies and weighing impacts.
- Wrap‑up (10 min) – Students complete the Executive Briefing printable. Ask: "What's one law you would pass to make AI fairer?"
